First Post

Well, now that I have received word from the British Consulate that they are (finally) proving themselves to be competent and will return my passport to me in time for me to travel, it's setting in that I will be departing for the Centre of Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Oxford in a mere five days.

No worries, I'm fully prepared for depar -- hahaha. Who am I kidding? Up until today, I've been avoiding even THINKING of Oxford for fear that my passport will not come in and I'll somehow wind up back in snowy, corny Nebraska come January. (Joke, I obviously adore Nebraska -- I mean, have you seen out of state tuition? Lets be honest.) Today, I went to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie with Matt, and walked out nearly giddy over the idea that I will actually BE in England in five days. Although I'm slightly concerned I'm going in expecting an England like the periods I obsess over -- Tudor England and Victorian England particularly. Oh, and I haven't begun packing. Nor have I double-checked that my bank card will actually work over there (Hi Dad! You can cringe now!), same goes with my insurance. But hey, all I really need are a few ducets and a hoop skirt, right? Right? (Nerd joke.)

Of course, the only thing I'm concerned about is that I really want to get a cute going-out dress before I leave. Welcome to my world!
